VECO East Africa has refined its strategy and designed a new programme 2014-2016 titled “Investing in smallholder agriculture: Better living conditions for smallholders (m/f) through the development of sustainable agricultural chains in Uganda and Tanzania.” New locations and value chains have been selected. In line with VECO/Vredeseilanden’s global strategy, the new programme will work on the one hand towards stimulating the development of staple food crops, sub-sector development and on the other towards the inclusion of smallholders (m/f) in modern markets .

In Uganda, we will work in Kapchorwa, Mbale and Tororo districts for the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables chain, and in Butaleja district for the rice chain. In Tanzania, we will work in Hai, Siha, and Moshi Rural districts in Kilimanjaro region and Arumeru district in Arusha region for Fresh Fruits and Vegetables chain and in Lower Moshi for the rice chain.
