The consultant will be responsible for developing training materials, conducting technical training, and submitting a quality report within four days after the training. Rikolto is an international NGO with more than 40 years’ experience in partnering with farmer organizations and food chain stakeholders across Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America. Rikolto runs programs in 17 countries worldwide through seven regional offices. Rikolto is ambitious in tackling one of the greatest challenges we face – ensuring that we have food systems that deliver for all of us in the future and that do not burden our planet more than it can bear. Rikolto in Tanzania has recently secured funding from AGRA to implement a Youth Entrepreneurship for the Future of Food and Agriculture (YEFFA) project by Empowering Youth and Women Through Integrated and Resilient Market-Led Sunflower Value Chain Development. The project is being executed through various partners across Tanzania and is funded by the Mastercard Foundation. The project has a goal of 100,000 smallholder sunflower farmers reached including youth and women, empower over 12,068 youth to secure dignified and fulfilling work from the agriculture along sunflower value chain in Mbeya, Songwe, Njombe, Rukwa and Katavi.
2.0. The assignment:
Rikolto is seeking a qualified consultant specializing in Agripreneur, the consultant will be responsible for identifying and exploring different agribusiness possibilities and skills Gaps that will increase youth employment opportunity along the sunflower value chain. There after a capacity building plan will be developed that will focus on nurturing innovative early-stage enterprises that have potential to become competitive agribusinesses. The essence will be to enable youth gain practical skill sets in all areas of agribusiness that included but not limited to Entrepreneurship and enterprise development, production technics, Agri-inputs business, mechanization delivery services and production and processing machines maintenance, postharvestmachine handling and Marketing. Cross cutting skills such as financial literacy, record keeping, digital skills, climate smart agriculture and life skills will also be provided. These youth will also be linked to difference service provider to establish business relationship (seed companies, equipment suppliers, markets) different business cases will be provided to enable youth get insights. The consultant(s) will plan and implement a comprehensive training program for Village-Based Advisors (VBAs) across five regions—Njombe, Mbeya, Songwe, Katavi and Rukwa.
3. 0. Objectives of the Assignment
The consultant(s) will be responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive training program for Village-Based Advisors (VBAs), equipping them with essential knowledge and skills in Agripreneur, enhancing youth skills sets that will build their capacity to provide different services including safe and sustainable Agri-inputs business, mechanization services, production and processing machinery services , post-harvest machine handling, financial literacy, marketing and life skills spraying services, responsible pesticide use, identification and prevention of counterfeit and illegal pesticides, proper pesticide application techniques, and business management and entrepreneurship. The training will be strengthening both soft and hard youth business acumen skills, leading to creating self and extended employment
